Juarez City.- A grand slam by Yahir Gurrola in the fateful seventh inning broke the tie and put the Indios de Juárez up 6-2, so that they eventually achieved a 7-4 victory over the Algodoneros de Delicias and thus broke a streak of three consecutive defeats.
It was Iván Gallegos’s first game as manager of the border team, which he knew how to guide well after going down 2-0, after Delicias scored in the fourth and sixth innings.
On the Juárez Stadium diamond, the Indios’ first two runs were wheelies in that same seventh inning. Then Gurrola stood at the plate and took advantage of the full house to send Doña Blanca to the other side of the fence.
“It is very easy, I say, when you are at the bottom not to have confidence, but if you are at the bottom or at the top you have to show your face and go to work every day. It’s what I do, I put on my jacket and I come to work every day and do my best for the people and myself,” Gurrola declared to Indios TV after the victory.
At the top of the eighth inning, the cotton growers added some drama to the game by scoring two runs, but Juárez responded with one more run to leave the final numbers. This Thursday, starting at 7:30 pm, Indios and Algodoneros will meet once again at the Juárez Stadium, and on Friday the Indios receive the Mazorqueros de Camargo.
