The 2024 Income Tax calendar provides for 5 batches of refunds. The first will be paid on May 31st and the fifth and final batch on September 30th. See below :
- 1st batch – may 31st
- 2nd batch – June 28
- 3rd batch – July 31
- 4th batch – August 30
- 5th batch – September 30th
Traditionally, batch consultation opens one week before the payment date.
This Thursday, the 23rd, consultation for the first batch was opened. 5,562,065 taxpayers will be covered, including priority and non-priority taxpayers, with a total value of R$9.5 billion. This is the highest amount ever paid by the IRS in a batch of refunds. Last year, 4.1 million taxpayers were included in the first batch.
The deadline for submitting the IR 2024 declaration ends on the 31st, with the exception of taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul, who will have until August 31st to submit the document. The Federal Revenue expects that up to 43 million 2024 Income Tax declarations will be received.
Who has priority to receive the refund
This year, exceptionally, the Revenue changed the order of priority for payment of the 2024 Income Tax refund to include taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul. The change is one of the measures announced by the government to help residents of the state after the heavy rains recorded between the end of April and the beginning of May.
The government included state declarants after people who have priority by law, such as the elderly and declarants whose main source of income is teaching. Thus, taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul are ahead of those who chose to receive the refund via PIX and/or used the pre-filled declaration model.
The prioritization order is now as follows:
-
Elderly taxpayers aged 80 years or over;
-
Elderly taxpayers aged 60 years or over, disabled and those with serious illnesses;
-
Taxpayers whose largest source of income is teaching;
-
Taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul
-
Taxpayers who used the pre-filled form and/or chose to receive the refund via PIX;
-
