The writer Iñaki Domínguez, cultural anthropologist and fingering, expert in macarism and urban myths, delves into his latest book – ‘Bufones. Humor, censorship and ideology in the time of the Internet’– in the wave of moral puritanism of our time and advocates humor as … Combat tool. We forgive him a sin in exchange for us to talk about the rest …
“I’m open to talk about any sin.” As a confessed sinner, it is not a matter that tries to hide.
“What would your capital sin be?”
“Lust, but I don’t consider it a sin.” It would be a defect only as soon as it is treated in excess. In my opinion, lustful people at the insane level are usually subject with affective deficiencies that try to replace through sex. I have the impression that this is what happened to Errejón, precisely.
“What sin would it cost you more apologize in others?”
“Envy.” We can all feel envy at a given time, occasionally and at a single moment. The bad thing about the envious is that they tend to ‘obey’ this negative impulse, they let themselves be dominated by him and act accordingly. Feeling a stab of envy is apology, obeying this seems unforgivable to me. It has been said that in Spain it is capital sin, although probably it is in many other places. Certainly, it is a sin of complexes. For years I have followed the advice of Unamuno, who said that the more you think about envy, one ends up by relying and seeing it everywhere. I haven’t seen her for years.
“What do you think is more apology?”
“Gula, quiźa.” And, in fact, I practice intermittent fasting and stop eating daily (except weekends) for 18, 19 or 20 hours. I have some monk, who likes to retire to study and lead an orderly life, almost from Anacoreta. Although I am a Juerguista on weekends, I have ascetic soul. That is why I write two books a year, although my editors only allow me to publish one. Ordered life is the best antidote against sin.
“Write two books a year, she collaborates in the press and radio … would that would not be aim?”
“Well, you already know that the writer’s world is extremely precarious.” More than greed, I would talk about survival. In Madrid, paying you a small floor has become a robbery and you have to do anything to stay afloat.
—I have written about the Madrid urban tribes and on the move… What do you think was the capital sin of our society in those years?
“The modern of the 80s were not as guards as they paint them.” They do not usually talk about the fact that they came from a backward country in many ways, and, therefore, they were envious complexes. They were also in the two thousand, but something less. As Kiko Matamoros told me on one occasion, the modern ones of the movement were, in large part, a “pile of papers disguised.” I hope that currently the Spaniards have a self -esteem superior to that of those times.
—As modernologist that is… Do you think this list of capital sins needs update? Would you remove or add any new?
—The capital sins are universal and follow more than active today. Lust would be the only one who does not seem sin, although it is true that, as Aristotle believed, it could be sin for excess. It seems to me that the list has overcome the test of time. For something it will be.
