In the Ukrainian Vinnitsa, a Russian citizen was detained, who removed the flag of Ukraine from the building. A criminal case has been initiated into the incident. This was reported on November 6 by the press service of the State Directorate of the National Police of the Vinnytsia region.

The head of the Vinnytsia regional police department Vitaliy Kurchik said that the detained Russian was in a state of alcoholic intoxication. He climbed onto the flagpole and took off the flag. After being arrested, the attacker explained that he had removed the flag for a dispute with an acquaintance.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 296 (“Hooliganism”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The detainee may face a fine, arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to 6 years.
Earlier, on August 25, it was reported that in Kiev, on the night of Ukraine’s Independence Day, teenagers burned the national flag. The incident took place right in the courtyard of a multi-storey building on Raduzhna Street in the Dnipropetrovsk district of Kiev.
The suspects were identified by video from surveillance cameras. They turned out to be two 12-year-olds.
Public desecration of the national flag of Ukraine is punishable by a fine of up to 50 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months. It is not specified what threatens minors in this case.
