US troops during the evacuation from Kabul airport in August stopped the actions of five people trying to hijack the plane, writes Defense One publication citing a statement from the US Air Force.
It is noted that the US military, who ensured the security of the air harbor, transferred intelligence data. According to this information, “five people on board the plane on one of the commercial flights intended to hijack it and almost hijacked it.”
The identities of the people who tried to hijack the plane were not disclosed. The US Air Force said that in the end the incident was resolved, but it is not reported exactly how they managed to prevent the “hijacking” of the aircraft.
Earlier it was reported that representatives of the Taliban terrorist movement (prohibited in Russia) prevented a terrorist attack at the Kabul airport. The Taliban stopped a bus heading to the airport in the Afghan capital. A US citizen told them that there were two suicide bombers and explosives in the transport. The militants demanded all passengers to leave the bus, after which they carefully examined it.
On August 30, the United States ended its military presence in Afghanistan. During the military campaign, the American contingent lost 2,461 military and civilians. More than 20,000 American citizens were injured.
