Kennedy Jr. calls for a monument to Assange in Washington
US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. has called for a monument to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. His words transmits Politico.
“He shouldn’t be in jail, we should have a statue of him in Washington, D.C.,” he said, adding that Assange should be honored as a hero.
Kennedy Jr. also criticized former US President Donald Trump for not pardoning the journalist. The politician said that if he becomes head of state, he will pardon both the founder of WikiLeaks and ex-US intelligence officer Edward Snowden.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the trial of Assange an ongoing execution. Thus, she commented on the decision of the High Court of England and Wales to allow the accused to challenge the extradition order to the United States.
