Cehegín warms up its engines. Yesterday the tenth edition of the Ruta de las Iglesias was presented, a race that will be held on May 11 in the town, organized by the Quípar Sports Club and which has the peculiarity that a large part of its route is at night.
The test will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Gran Vía de Cehegín. Participants will cross the old town and pass in front of the churches of La Soledad, Santa María Magdalena and the hermitages Purísima Concepción and Santo Cristo.
This test is the 15th of the Running Challenge League – RCH 2024 of the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia (FAMU), it will have two modalities: the traditional 5 and 10 kilometer race and the hiking format, over a distance of five kilometres. The fastest in last year's edition were Jesús Montoya and José Fernández in the 10 and 5 kilometers, respectively.
For yet another year, the solidarity nature of the event is maintained, with one euro from each registration going to the D'Genes Association, reaffirming its commitment to social causes and the well-being of the community. This Tuesday the presentation event took place at the Mirador Paseo de la Concepción, with the attendance, among others, of the Councilor for Sports of the Cehegín City Council, José Antonio Zafra, as well as the president of the Quípar Sports Club, Andrés Aznar; the Northwest coordinator of the D'Genes Association, Pascual Donate, or the Ceheginero athlete Estanislao Lorencio, whose image presides over this year's poster.
Registration deadline
The registration period for the test remains open, on the Alcanza Tu Meta website (https://www.alcanzatumeta.es/inscripcionp1.php?id=873934) until Wednesday, May 8 at 8:00 p.m. for card payments ( POS) or reach the registration limit. Their cost is 12 euros for the absolute test (10 euros for athletes with a valid FAMU, FTRM or FCRM license).
Numbers can be collected in the start and finish area, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. There will be a prize for the first three overall finishers in the 5 and 10 kilometers, as well as for the first three in each established category and the first local finisher, both in the men's and women's sections, with a runner's purse awarded to all participants.
