Court advice says that the rapporteur, Floriano Marques, did not release the process; Moraes leaves the Court in June
The president of TSE (Superior Electoral Court), Alexandre de Moraesdid not include on next week’s agenda the trial that could revoke the senator’s mandate Jorge Seif (PL-SC). The magistrate will leave the Electoral Court on June 3, 2024.
To the Power360, the TSE advisor said that the rapporteur of the action, minister Floriano Marques, did not release the process. Judgments can be included in the Court’s agenda up to 48 hours in advance.
Seif’s case must then be judged during the minister’s presidency Carmen Lucia.
On Tuesday (May 21), the TSE acquitted the senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) of accusations of slush fund, abuse of economic power, misuse of the media and irregularities in contracts.
The rapporteur was also minister Floriano Marques. The opposition expects the result to be the same in relation to Seif.
SEIF CASE
On April 30, 2023, the TSE decided, by 6 votes to 1, suspend the trial against Seifwho was Secretary of Fisheries and Agriculture during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
During the analysis of the action, the rapporteur, Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques, concluded that there was a lack of evidence to continue the analysis. He proposed converting the trial into diligence.
Seif responds for abuse of economic power during the 2022 elections. The congressman allegedly used Hang’s aircraft and the structure of the businessman’s stores to run his campaign.
The Court halted the trial until Havan, Luciano Hang’s company, and the airport and heliport administrators in cities in Santa Catarina provide information on the movement of planes during the 2022 electoral period.
The action was presented by the “Let’s Work” coalition – formed by PSD, União Brasil and Patriota – against Seif and his deputies, Hermes Klann and Adrian Rogers Censi.
In addition to Hang, the process mentions Almir Manoel Atanázio dos Santos, president of Sincasjb (São João Batista Footwear Industry Union).
