Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has implemented an intensive program for periodic maintenance of 227 electricity transmission stations, including 196 33 kV stations, 5 220 kV high-pressure stations, 26 132 kV stations, in addition to a high-voltage network with a length of more than 1200 km across Sharjah The program also included preventive maintenance of electricity network extensions and transformers in various regions of Sharjah, in preparation for the summer months.
The Director of Energy Transmission Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, Engineer Hamad Al Tunaiji, confirmed that the authority is working with its full capacity to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop electricity networks in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, achieve stability and stability in networks and provide services With high quality, review of extensions, maintenance work and continuous follow-up of all stations and networks.
He explained that the program of periodic and preventive maintenance works for power transmission stations starts annually from October 1 to May 15 so that it is during the winter months that witness a decrease in loads, which contributes to conducting maintenance work without affecting customers.
The program includes the maintenance of power transmission stations and transformers scattered in various regions of the Emirate of Sharjah. The authority attaches great importance to periodic and preventive maintenance, providing original spare parts and ensuring their quality to maintain devices, equipment and stations and ensure their efficiency.
He pointed out that the authority seeks to develop operational and technical operations, which monitors the electrical network of the city of Sharjah and provides operating and maintenance requirements to reduce and prevent malfunctions by conducting the necessary technical operations for this, in addition to reviewing and implementing maintenance programs, developing and improving the electrical network and dealing with some emergency cases of interruption. Electricity as quickly as possible.
The Deputy Director of the Energy Transmission Department, Eng. Ahmed Baniyas, confirmed that all replacement, renewal, maintenance and modification works depend on technicians and engineers in the maintenance departments of the authority, pointing out that the application of modern maintenance concepts, which include preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, ensures high operational efficiency with the highest levels of safety for workers and at the lowest costs. .
He added that periodic maintenance works contribute to enhancing the efficiency and performance of the main network, increasing the life span of the Authority’s equipment and property, reducing the period of equipment and equipment disruption, reducing interruptions, enhancing safety in the workplace and improving efficiency. The more systems are in good condition, the better their performance and production.
Saif Ahmed Al Obaidli, Head of the 33 Substations Section, explained that the maintenance program for 33 kV power transmission stations, which number 196 stations across the city of Sharjah, requires obtaining a work permit, following all safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and visual inspection of transformers and switches. To check the absence of oil and gas leakage, treat leakage if any, test the purity of electrical transformer oil, test the purity of electrical insulation gas, test the protection systems of transformers and switches, check all connections, electrical control wires, circuit breakers, adjust the time and check the working mechanism of all equipment and devices for transformers Electrical switches, comprehensive cleaning, lubrication and electrical switches. Periodic maintenance work for power transmission stations includes changing spare parts, checking and changing oils, checking air insulation capsules, checking preventive protection devices, checking and adding insulation gas to switches, and checking capacitors and transformers to ensure their efficiency, which will contribute to achieving stability and stability for electricity networks and providing services with the best specifications and improve efficiency.
