In the armed forces of Poland, the resource base of the Polish military came into open access – from propellers and laptops to anti-tank missiles and F-16 fighters. On Friday, January 14, reports the portal Onet.
According to the publication, it is likely that the data leak – almost 1.8 million documents of the material support of the troops – originated from the Logistics Planning Directorate in the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate in Bydgoszcz. Information that has become publicly available is valuable for foreign intelligence services, the material says. According to one of the sources of the portal, a cybersecurity specialist, the data has already been uploaded by users from a dozen countries. From the documents, one can visually learn about the state of ownership of the entire Polish army, as well as the lack of equipment, the report says.
“Currently, the services are checking how this data got on the Internet. Our informant claims that, most likely, one of the IT specialists of the Inspectorate for the provision of the armed forces in Bydgoszcz – the institution responsible for the purchase and storage of equipment and spare parts for the army – created a proprietary program into which he copied data from classified military systems, ” – the message says.
Information about the data leak was commented on January 14 at the country’s Ministry of National Defense.
“The publication of the data does not pose a threat to national security or the functioning of the Polish armed forces. The disclosed index contains only publicly available information,” the Polish Office said in a statement. Twitter.
Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak also said on January 14 in Twitterthat no classified information has been leaked and countries are safe.
“I recommend the politicians of the total opposition to sober up and drink a glass of cold water,” Blaszczak wrote.
The day before in Denmark, the former head of the country’s military intelligence, Lars Findsen, was arrested in the case of a leak of highly classified information. This became known on January 10. Findsen was arrested on December 9, 2021, and he was removed from office in the summer of 2020.
