At number 9 of Via Fatebenefratelli – a prestigious and wide street in Brera, the Milanese district where art, fashion and design define an inimitable atmosphere – the brilliant designer Matteo Cibic – with works exhibited among the most interesting museums in Europe – directs, as if he were an orchestra conductor, agreements capable of creating a dialogue between Art and Design. A perfect timing, considering that in the next few days Milan will offer a very dense network of events dedicated to photography, art and design. A convulsive calendar in which the expression of drawing and expressing a thought becomes a communication code accessible to all those who visit the city.
The project created by Matteo Cibic for Delvis Unlimited is not a typo, as the name of the exhibition suggests, featuring Robert Janitz (König Galerie), known for his large abstract paintings on monochromatic backgrounds.
“Delvis has always had a connection with art, making his soul unique projects and unconventional materials, for this reason the collaboration with Robert Janitz was natural, whose material brushstrokes were transferred with meticulous care into jacquard fabrics in the iconic padded furniture designed by Andrea Steidl and the depth of its saturated colors in an immersive installation” – reveals Matteo Cibic, shy and extroverted creative director of Delvis Unlimited who has recently opened his first Italian flagship store, the first in Europe.
<3 is a Typo is the series with which the German artist, transplanted to Mexico City, explores the development of written language from linear structures to more complex forms and treatments, drawing parallels with the evolution of life.
The paintings on display resemble characters from unknown languages, conveying a message of love and harmony, despite their enigmatic nature. Perspectives in which the use of colors, shapes and creative concepts integrate artistic elements and express emotions.
<3 is a Typo it is a deep and complex emotion. A powerful force that binds and connects. Reinterpret. Experiment. “A colour, a room, a unique piece”.
An immersive experience, where Robert Janitz's canvases develop on the upholstery belonging to the SLOPE line family, whose design was designed by Andrea Steidl.
A unique piece, like a work of art, where the nuances of Janitz's talent – which are characterized by the authenticity of the oil pigments mixed with wax and flour – are made up of a meticulous jacquard workmanship in five different colours, which they recreate the chromatic richness of the artist's brushstrokes.
The furnishings are housed in an attractive and fascinating space such as a gallery which, with its 100 square metres, houses the collections of .Delvis Unlimited. which fit into the world of design with an unconventional aesthetic, stimulating intellectual curiosity with the search for unique artistic expressions, which translate into the will and intentions of designing exclusive furnishings.
Artistic selections made in collaboration with Stefano Del Vecchio, Friulian by birth, art collector, designer, globetrotter by passion, who founded Delvis in Friuli in 1984 and who celebrates his 40th anniversary in 2024, initially an artisan company, transformed over the years in an international reality. A growth that has protected and preserved the original approach to the project in its DNA: a vision rooted in Italian culture that combines traditional knowledge with sophisticated techniques and meticulous attention to detail.
In 2009 Delvis expanded its production to Asia, with headquarters in Hong Kong. 2021 is the year in which Delvis Unlimited comes to life, a true artistic division capable of designing furnishings as intense as works of art, where the influences of travel mix with a world observed through eyes capable of capturing the experiences that life offers.
Art and craftsmanship – rigorously made in Italy – are balanced in the use of ancient natural materials such as iron, wood and stone, giving life to a creative process that is based on constant research and growth and which manifests itself through art , understood as the birth of a real culture expressed by the artists involved.
“The opening of our first flagship store in Milan, which follows that of Shanghai, which took place in September 2023, confirms that the artistic path is transversal, that is, when there is art and design there are no territorial boundaries other than those dictated by aesthetic codes. Milan is the home of design, as much as the art we cherish in our beautiful Italy. We could not neglect expressing art and design in a city that today is a central crossroads in Europe.” – declares Stefano Del Vecchio who divides his life between Hong Kong, Shanghai, Milan and Udine.
In Europe, Delvis Unlimited is present in the Principality of Monaco and Geneva. In 2022 the .Delvis industrial group closed with a consolidated balance sheet of 50 million dollars.
