Law enforcement agencies of Melitopol prevented the sabotage, which was planned to be committed on the day of the reunification of the Zaporozhye region with Russia. This was announced on Friday, September 30 TASS in the military-civilian administration (VGA) of the city.
“Today, police officers, while inspecting infrastructure facilities, found on a power line pole on the street. 40 years of Victory in the urban-type settlement of Akimovka four plates of American-made C4 explosive,” the source said.
It is noted that the explosives were defused by employees of the National Guard.
The administration emphasized that Ukraine wants to “marble the most significant day for the inhabitants of the Zaporozhye region.”
“In the morning, the Nazis fired on a column of civilians who were leaving [через пропускной пункт Васильевка] into territory controlled by Russia. Then they tried to leave Melitopol and the region without electricity,” the CAA specified.
On the eve of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, an explosion near a school in Melitopol was called a terrorist attack against the civilian population.
The terrorist attack occurred on September 29 at about 07:50 (the time coincides with Moscow time) near the school on the street of the 50th anniversary of the Victory. According to the city administration, an explosive device went off. It was fixed on a tree and came into action when a car passed. IED was stuffed with striking elements.
The car was damaged, the driver of the vehicle received minor injuries. It is noted that special services are working on the spot.
A day earlier, eight explosions rocked the city and its suburbs. Prior to that, on September 25, a car exploded on Lomonosov Street in Melitopol. According to the investigation, a Ukrainian saboteur died due to careless handling of an explosive device. It was later established that he was preparing a number of other attacks.
On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed agreements on the entry of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation. The ceremony was held in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
Referendums in the liberated territories were held from 23 to 27 September. According to the results of processing 100% of ballots, 99.23% of citizens voted for the accession of the DPR to the Russian Federation. In the LPR, 98.42% of citizens voted for integration with the Russian Federation, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, and in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region due to increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
