“The expectation is like every year: we expect good sales, we hope to have good customers, that people go to the establishments to make their purchases, but we are seeing that it will be a little more expensive than last year.”
Justification
He added that this increase is due to the high cost of inputs. “All the costs of the inputs are increasing and unfortunately it forces us to increase prices to the final consumer.”
He commented that this year there have been no frosts that have damaged the rose crops, but that the cold has delayed the product’s flowering. “By delaying, because prices tend to increase and as there is little supply, demand increases.”
He mentioned that on February 14, Valentine’s Day, the rose is one of the best-selling flowers. “The rose is what all our clients are looking for for that date, it is something very symbolic to express their feelings.”
Mejía Moreno added that it depends on the suppliers of the flower whether the sales season is good or not.
He explained that the request that the flower merchants make to the authorities is that they base themselves on the list that they already have of permits and that they not increase them.
“That they abide by those who have permission and that the operation is real, that they are verifying that people have their permits to sell products on public roads. We hope that this year they work well, that they do their part, that they do their job as it should be.”
