Screenings of the play “My Grandson Veniamin” based on the play by writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya were canceled in another city in Russia. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Ministry of Culture of the Chelyabinsk Region.
The Chelyabinsk State Drama Chamber Theater has canceled shows scheduled for February and March. The theater also terminated its contract with the writer's agent.
The play “My Grandson Benjamin” has been replaced by the productions “Paradise” and “Eight Loving Women”; all changes are reflected in the poster, the ministry clarified.
Earlier, the Moscow Sovremennik Theater canceled showings of Ulitskaya’s play “Let’s Dance…”.
Prior to this, Ulitskaya, in a conversation with pranksters Vovan and Lexus, admitted to sending royalties from the sale of her books to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The writer also stated that she likes the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
