In a strange incident, an Egyptian filed a lawsuit demanding financial compensation from his wife, and the annulment of the marriage contract after she gave birth to a child with Down syndrome, and the court ruled to reject the lawsuit and provide justice to the wife.
The wife said: She was surprised last February by a lawsuit from her husband asking for financial compensation and an annulment of the marriage contract, because she had given birth to their daughter, Sidra, who had Down syndrome, and who died after giving birth, according to a report published by Al Arabiya.
She added that the husband accused her of giving birth to deformed, diseased and unhealthy children, and that she was the reason for that.
The novelist and doctor Ghada Al-Absi said that their daughter Sidra died 3 years ago and 24 days after her birth. However, the husband filed his lawsuit despite the passage of more than two years, as he confirmed in the lawsuit that he was psychologically and financially affected by this marriage and requested financial compensation.
She added that she was subjected to the utmost levels of psychological abuse, and as a doctor, he accused her of deceiving him and concealing a secret that he knew, contrary to the truth.
It is reported that the court did justice to the wife and ruled in her favor a week ago, but the husband continued his intransigence and started filing other lawsuits demanding the cancellation of her novel bearing the name of their daughter, the confiscation of copies and a new financial compensation.
