Acura Motorsports has announced the agreement with Oreca for the construction of the frame of its LMDh with which in 2023 it will attack the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The American sports brand of Honda had already confirmed its commitment with the brand new prototypes, which will be fielded by the Meyer Shank Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing teams in the new era.
The ARX-06 LMDh will be hybrid with a specially designed internal combustion and aerodynamic power-unit, and will make its debut on the track in the championship in just over a year, with the French company that will take care of its construction, just as it had happened with the current ARX-05 DPi, ready to face the last season of competitions.
“It is a pleasure to announce the continuation of our collaboration with Oreca for the new LMDh era – said David Salters, president and technical director of Honda Performance Development, North American branch of Acura Motorsports – We have already collaborated with them with the Acura ARX-05 winning the IMSA Constructors’ titles in the DPi Class in 2019 and 2020, as well as the Endurance Cup this year “.
“It will be a very demanding and beautiful technical challenge with the LMDh, we will race against teams and drivers in intense battles. But this is also why Acura and HPD are committed to motorsport. Together with Oreca and the other partners there is enthusiasm in facing this new era “.
