Guamúchil, Sinaloa.- Within the framework of Orange Day, the Municipal Institute of Women (Immujeres) of Salvador Alvarado, headed by Ana Villela, held the important event in Guamúchil “Dignified Menstruation Day”with the firm objective collect sanitary napkins to deliver to low-income women, and to create awareness in society about menstruation and how many women face a great obstacle every month, lacking the resources to acquire the necessary hygienic products to cope with their period.
On this day, the Women’s Institute received donations of sanitary napkins from society, to later deliver them to women with limited resources, who have difficulty receiving their menstruation because they cannot afford this essential product, and, therefore, they must to resort to other types of strategies, which are not as practical or functional.
The Pedro Infante Cruz square in Guamúchil witnessed how society was very participatory in this project, and people of all ages support this noble cause.

Similarly, Ana Villela, stressed that unfortunately in society there is a problem due to the lack of knowledge regarding the subject, since there are many people and mainly men who are unaware of this problem, and also with this event they seek to give know what the context that surrounds women and motivate them to support, as well as to create empathy in the people of Alvarada.
She stressed that for many years women have faced this obstacle of not having sufficient resources to purchase health products, and that is why the initiative to carry out this day was born, which likewise commented that this is a matter of so relevant, that about a year ago the Congress of the State of Sinaloa approved reducing VAT on the costs of sanitary napkins.

She said that this is part of a long struggle that has been carried out with the aim of supporting all those women who must invest a large amount each month in the purchase of these products.
He pointed out that this event is the first of many that they seek to carry out, since one will not be enough to cover the needs of the women of the municipality and later to plan another event of this nature, as well as with some other activities they will seek to continue in the struggles to ensure that women have a dignified menstruation.
