“If anyone wants to contact people whom they have not been able to locate in Alfafar, please write to me and give me your address or full name and I will check their addresses and respond little by little.” After this message on his ‘X’ account, the first requests to Iván García Pérez did not take long to arrive. »We don’t know anything about him and his family,« answers a woman who adds the name and address of the person they are trying to locate since they don’t know anything about him after the passage of DANA. »Located, they are all fine«, Iván responds at the hour.
This National Police agent was caught on vacation by the flood. He managed to protect himself in the first moments but as soon as he could he started helping people who needed it, he tells ABC. «We have already been able to locate three people and we have already notified their relatives. “They are fine,” explains García Pérez to ABC, who continues to support tasks such as locating people or cleaning, among others. “Of the five people who asked me to locate, three are fine and I have not been able to locate the other two but it could be for various reasons, such as that they went out to look for food and were not at home when I went,” he points out.
The light, this agent explains, is already returning to Alfafar, so communicating from now on will be easier, which is why he trusts that these people whose relatives still have no news about will be able to contact them soon. However, the situation they are experiencing in Alfafar, says García Pérez, is very hard. «There are many dead in the garages. People who went down to get their cars and have not appeared,” he laments.
This police officer also complains that food, water and medicine are not arriving in the town, with people beginning to despair at the impossibility of accessing basic products. «There is nothing, nothing is coming in. This is an absolute war. Medicines are missing. A control command has been placed in the local police so that people can go because there are injured people and we are working with each other as best we can. “We are already desperate,” he denounces.
Food collection
First thing on Saturday, two vans will set out in Alfafar to collect food and medicines that the population needs and that are not arriving at the moment. During this Friday, this agent will also dedicate himself, in addition to cleaning tasks, to making trips to Valencia to try to get water and food that he can take to the town. «The town does not exist, it is razed, there is nothing. We are thousands of inhabitants who do not have water or food or anything. “You have to go to Valencia to look for things and bring them,” he laments.
