Tampa Bay Lightning forward Austin Watson fell for a cheap trick in the Hockey League NHL against the Nashville Predators.
The Predators were beating the Lightning 5-1 when a frustrated Watson shot a low shot in the last second of the game by Jeremy Lauzon ankle.
Published by Sportsnet video shows how Watson lined up his shot from near the blue line just a few feet away from Lauzon standing at the red line.
Lauzon fell to the surface of the ice looking pained and a small struggle was seen on the edge of the rink. Watson got a 2+10 minute penalty for his trick.
Predators coach Andrew Brunette commented sports site Penalty Box Radio according to the case in a rather strict tone.
“I didn’t like it at all,” Brunette bagged the Predators, according to the site that follows.
“There is no place for that in hockey.”
Editor of Penalty Box Radio Alex Daugherty said the message service Xi.e. in the former Twitter, that Watson went to the Predators locker room after the game to check if Lauzon was okay.
“I do not believe, based on what I saw, that Watson specifically intended to hurt Lauzon, but regardless, his actions were incredibly reckless,” Daugherty wrote.
For Watson a total of 17 minutes of ice time were recorded in the match. At the beginning of the final round, he got a five-minute suspension for his fight Cole Smith’s with.
Watson clocked six minutes and 48 seconds of playing time. In addition, four tackles were recorded in the statistics.
