Sinaloa.- After the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Sinaloa will request his immunity, the morenista mayor of Culiacán, Jesús Estrada Ferreiro, said in an interview for Debate that He fears for his life and that of his family.
He pointed out that those who have conspired to affect him resemble an organized crime group, referring to Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, along with the Secretary of Government, Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, and Deputy Feliciano Castro Meléndrez.
The dialogue with the mayor took place in his private office, where he works as a lawyer, and was accompanied by his press officer at the mayor’s office, Vladimir Oviedo, who did not participate in the interview.
How did the notification made by the State Attorney General’s Office to Congress where they request political immunity against you happen?
“Until now, I am not officially notified of anything, I found out through the media. I didn’t think it was true, but when I saw the interviews with Feliciano Castro Meléndrez I realized that it was. And I want to tell you that I already saw this coming, because the persecution is fierce from the governor against me, as it is from Feliciano, his chichincle, and from the Secretary of Government, who is the brains of all this, because His clumsiness has led the governor into a very serious mess due to the consequences that this may have in the end, the outcome that this is going to have. I don’t know if the governor wants to take the consequences. I would recommend him, as a person, to reconsider, to stop him, because what he is doing is not correct, because his behavior is unfair, abusive and because he is falling into a trap that his collaborators are setting for him.”
For what reason is the FGE requiring it? There is confusion on this part. What are they accusing him of: alleged acts of corruption, abuse of power or what is it about?
“Right now, as far as I know, from what has been published and from what Feliciano Castro said, it is due to abuse of authority and discrimination against police widows. All this is false, at no time do we discriminate against anyone: neither widows, nor people. That goes against my principles, my ideology. Second, there is no abuse of authority. If they want to classify the abuse of authority because we do not pay promptly as soon as the law or whatever it is, well, it has already been paid for, that does not allow for a political trial or a violation of immunity, there are no resources or demands that can be raised, however , we are paying for everything and I want you to know that Culiacán, as a municipality, is the only one in the state that has paid retired police officers and widows of police officers more than double what they were entitled to, and the only one up to now that has been paying the homologation.
Mayor, but he has already been notified, Feliciano Castro said. You, as a lawyer, know this. The route of your lawlessness is already there, how do you see it?
“Wrong, because it is an abuse of power, an abuse of authority, perversity, practically organized crime; because organized crime doesn’t just happen in drug trafficking, it happens when two or more people come together to commit a crime or affect a person or a group of people”.
“My main concern is the damage they can cause me and my family, because they are vindictive, bad people. I never thought that Rocha Moya was bad, but today I am convinced that it is, they are dangerous people”.
He is afraid?
“Yes. For my family; Not for me, I have to die of something. I fear for my life, I’m not invulnerable, I don’t bring escorts or someone to take care of me and I’m not afraid of drug traffickers, I’m not afraid of those people, I’m afraid of them, I know what they’re capable of. They come from the joints of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, from the old ones, that’s where they come from and they are all involved in Congress, it’s a cave, and Rocha is their boss.
Are you going to take some security measures?
“No, what can I do. Here the only salvation is that they make effective the commitment to go and talk there in Mexico. What do you want me to give you, the drinking water discount? There are discounts for everyone. Of the widows? We are all paying them; that some widow feels offended by what you want, that is not a reason to remove a mayor from her position, an official. I didn’t say anything rude to them, I didn’t harm them and what the Commission asked me to do about the apologies I made public to people I didn’t even know and nothing happened. I don’t have the ingrained pride to say no, I’m not going to do it. I did say many times that I offer an apology, although I don’t feel guilty, for complying with a recommendation and for complying with a satisfaction for the people who will receive it.
