The officers gave chase not only because he overtook them at a speed of 163 km/h, but also because the car no longer had a valid registration since March 2021. During the chase, the speed rose to almost 190 km/h.
The traffic police Zeeland-West-Brabant put the man aside in Dordrecht, the Corps reported on Twitter. After deduction of the legal correction, the man was fined for a violation of 173 km/h. The Pole, who drove an older Audi A4, disagreed.
He stated that he had driven 189 km/h and claimed that his car could go much faster. He then showed the officers a video in which the car was traveling at 220 km/h. But because the police could not determine whether he had driven that speed in the Netherlands and was behind the wheel himself, he did not receive a ticket.
It turned out that the Polish driver did not have a driver’s license. He was also unable to identify himself and turned out to be under the influence of drugs. The man received a ticket for speeding, driving without a license, driving a car without a valid registration and driving under the influence.
