The return of Hyundai N to the Nürburgring Nordschleife coincides with a new project from the sportiest division of the Korean brand. In fact, an even more powerful variant of the Ioniq 5 was revealed at the Green Hell, it is the N TA, Time Attack, designed to participate in the next Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, with a project shared with the developers of Gran Turismo, the franchise of racing simulation video games for PlayStation.
The specifications of the Ioniq 5 N TA
The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Time Attack is more powerful than the road version, with an overall powertrain output of 687 HP, 37 HP more through a software adjustment to maximize performance. On the Ioniq 5 N TA there is also the N Active Sound+ with modified speakers (over 120 dB) both to improve feedback for the driver and to replace the sirens typical of Pikes Peak electric racing cars. On this special version we also find new shock absorbers, racing brakes, 18-inch Yokohama ADVAN 005 slick tires and a unique aerodynamic package. Additional safety enhancements include a Recaro Pro Racer SPA Hans seat, a Sabelt six-point Hans safety harness, a PPIHC-specific roll cage and an electric vehicle fire suppression system.
Objective Pikes Peak
Four cars will then participate in Pikes Peak, alongside the two N TAs there will also be two traditional Ioniq 5 Ns to participate in the 102nd edition of the legendary competition. The four cars from the Korean brand will tackle the challenging climb along a twisting 12.42 mile (20 km) route that climbs more than 4,700 feet (1,438 meters) to the top of Pikes Peak while taking on 156 curves. The team is aiming for the Production SUV/Electric Crossover and Modified Electric SUV/Crossover records. Behind the wheel of the four Hyundai Ioniq 5Ns will be eleven-time PPIHC winner and three-time “King of the Mountain” Paul Dallenbach and PPIHC rookie and automotive media personality Ron Zaras.
