“We are not going to stop until Mazón is put in prison.” “Mazón eating and the people dying.” “More scientists and less bullfighters.” These have been some songs that dozens of people have chanted gathered this Saturday afternoon in Puerta del Sol, in the center of Madrid, to ask for the resignation of the president of the Generalitat Valenciana Carlos Mazón, for his management of the DANA in Valencia .
The rally was held at the same time as the one that took place in the city of Valencia to also demand political responsibility in a tragedy that has already left more than 200 dead. The demonstration in Valencia has been called by some 40 social and union organizations and thousands of people have attended. This Thursday another demonstration also took place, attended by around a thousand people in Barcelona.
The protesters carried signs with messages such as “Mazón, to prison”, “justice” and “resignation”. Valle Moreno has been one of the people who has mobilized today in the capital. Arrived from Valencia, she believes that there should be criminal consequences for the president: “I don’t trust there will be any. I do hope that there will be political consequences. The PP is letting him fall.”
President Carlos Mazón is on the ropes after his controversial response, the lack of foresight and the falsehoods of his Government regarding the DANA catastrophe that devastated several towns on October 29.
