HSBC, Europe’s leading international bank, aims to strengthen itself in the sustainable transition
HsbcEurope’s leading international investment bank, has announced the appointment of Alan Duffycurrent CEO e Head of Banking of the Irish division of Hsbcas first Head of Sustainable Finance for Europe Commercial Banking. In his new role, Alan will support European customers of Hsbc in undertaking the transition to a world a zero emissionscentral point of the strategy of Europe’s leading international investment bank. The group is also involved in the “Business Plan for the Planet“, a series of stocks and investments between $ 750 billion and $ 1 trillion to drive the sustainable transition worldwide.
Alan is widely recognized as a key figure within the European sustainable finance landscape, having led many of the most significant transaction paths of HSBC clients. “Europe is the gravitational center of global sustainable finance, both in terms of policy definition and market activity. More and more European customers are setting themselves science-based targets (SBT) on which to focus their transition paths and to integrate ESG issues in their activities and we must be at the center of this unmissable transformation ”, he commented Alan Duffy.

After working for several years at Scotia Bank and ING, Alan entered into Hsbc in 2007 to launch the offer of corporate banking in Ireland before becoming CEO of the branch in 2014. He will continue to hold the position of CEO and Head of Banking of HSBC Ireland until a replacement is appointed, and will be based in Dublin. In January Hsbc he also nominated Natalie Blyth as the new Global Head of Commercial Banking Sustainability.
