HS Espoo | “Well, it started out a bit then” – Anssi Myntti selflessly plows a skating rink for children on Lake Espoo after his work

An entrepreneur from Espoo first helped another plow, then started to freeze the ice and finally got a trail planer to get to the nearby lake even in winter.

Espoon An entrepreneur living in Lippajärvi Anssi Myntti started a few days ago a leisure hobby that is a lot of fun for others.

Myntti makes an ice skating rink and trails on the ice of Lippajärvi, between the residential areas of Lippajärvi and Viherlaakso, if there is only time left from work.

“I wish I had been in the winter of 2014–2015, when I was on the ice with the kids for the first time, and I was met by an ATV plowing the ice. I told him I also have an ATV and its driver asked if I could come to Jesus to get the track done faster together. ”

The duo always encountered their ATVs on the ice from time to time, but a few years ago, according to Mynt, the second plower was no longer visible.

However, the coin continued, in part because he wanted to make an ice rink for his son who played hockey.

“Well, then it started out a bit of a glove. My company had an internal combustion engine pump to get water from the lake and the field frozen, ”Myntti, 40, laughs.

The coin has been inspired by skating bananas made for several years in both Lake Bodominjärvi and Kauniainen Gallträsk.

Anssi Myntti runs trails and an ice rink on the ice of Lippajärvi in Espoo.

Four years ago Myntti bought a trail planer to get a route for skiing next to the skating rink.

“The idea was that the kids could go skiing and have the shortest distance possible on the ice. It’s a pretty nice route for kids when there are no hills, but you can ski on a flat surface, ”he says.

“I remember from my own childhood that the city was snowmobiling on the ice, but then it ran out for some reason,” says Myntti, who has lived near the lake for most of his life.

He began the renovation on a completely voluntary basis. Because of this, there are occasional breaks on ice visits when the ATV has to be elsewhere in the company’s contract work. He mainly works on the ice in the evenings and on weekends.

At first, Anssi Myntti plowed only the skating rink, but has also acquired a trail planer.

Between winters have been so miserable that there has been no such thing as ice.

“Then I haven’t dared to go so the stock doesn’t sink.”

According to Mynt, the total weight of the equipment and the driver is about 600–700 kilos.

In addition to children, adults in the surrounding areas also travel on the lines made by Mynt. Some have stopped talking and praising him.

“Of course this warms the mind, but the most important thing is that children and young people get to do it.”

Some ice riders have asked if there is a bump somewhere that could support the rehabilitation.

There is no actual collection, but the local residents’ associations – Lippajärveläiset ry and Viherlaaksolaiset ry – intend to support this winter by buying the construction of skating and skiing tracks during the day from Mynt’s company.

Associations want to support local sports venues because many sports venues are closed due to corona restrictions.

Many go swimming and rowing on the lake in summer, but Mynt thinks it is also worth a visit in winter.

“It’s great to see the forest, nature and houses from here.”

There is a plus at the time of the interview. However, winter continues. Myntti follows the weather forecasts and is confident that ice skating and skiing will soon take place in Lippajärvi again.

“The skating rink has now become a walking track. During the plus, I try to pump water to the track for at least part of the trip, so that I can get a very good skating surface again. It’s easy to do the trails again next time there is snow. ”
