The multimedia content management platform has become the memory album of millions of people around the world. But it is also a service that can quickly use up the storage capacity of devices. Until now, users had to carry out a manual process to download content hosted on their computers and free up space.
The Mountain View company has just enabled a feature that allows you to synchronize the photo and video folders stored on your computers with a service cloud to instantly generate a backup.
How does the new Google Photos tool work?
The backup is done using a process similar to that offered by the Google Drive desktop application. The only difference is that to complete the automatic transfer, users will need to log into the version web of Photos.
Those interested must enter the service page and press the “Upload” button, located in the upper right part of the screen. Within the drop-down menu, it is necessary to select the option “Create a backup copy of folders”. The system will request permissions to access local files. It will open the document explorer and simply select the portfolio you want to synchronize.
Users will be able to decide if they want maintain the original quality of materials or import a compressed variant to save space. Once the process is complete, the application will automatically search, identify and store the content in the cloud.
