House Flipper 2, the home renovation simulator that has kept us entertained as much as we can with a simple but functional formula since last December, has made the big leap towards consoles. With this transposition, the game brings with it the promise of a better adapted experience, especially in the control system, and a deeper immersion in the world of real estate renovation. Even with this new release on consoles, which we tested in the version PlayStation 5 for this review, House Flipper 2 offers users the opportunity to give new life to dilapidated houses and transform them into dream homes, all with a touch of originality that distinguishes it from other similar titles on the market.
Let's roll up our sleeves (again)!
As expected, the PS5 version of House Flipper keeps the essence of the gameplay intact which made the game so popular. Players start with a modest budget and the ability to buy dilapidated houses, then renovate them and resell them at a premium. While practicing between one painting it's a installationother missions will also arrive that will involve renovating a child's room or renovating an entire garage.
The big difference between the version of House Flipper 2 for consoles compared to the one already tested for PC, obviously lies in the renewed user interface, which has necessarily been adapted for the DualSense of the Japanese console.
The plot, if we want to call it that, is practically only hinted at: we find ourselves at Pinnacove, a fantasy city where residents will entrust us with their homes to give them new life. However, between a renovation or a construction from scratch, it will be pleasant to try to discover the history hidden within the walls of these old houses. But if you're not a fan of finding clues or lore, good old Tom will be able to give us the information we are looking for.
Polished
If you have already had the opportunity to play the predecessor, you will also have a good yardstick to understand how much the mechanics in this second chapter have been expanded and renewed, both in management and in fluidity.
From her House Flipper 2 has a very large interface, through which you can move easily, and where you can choose all the possible tools, from cleaning ones, wallpaper, construction tools and so on. All possibilities and abilities are strengthened – or gained if we do not yet possess them – with training and with the achievement of important goals. Even the presence of in-game storeallows us to purchase countless flashy or very particular objects, to give a touch of class to our creation, without a redundant repetition of assets.
The real highlight of House Flipper 2 is the sandbox modewhich as already mentioned allows players to finally take the reins of design, starting practically from 0. Lovers of this type of game will really appreciate the feature, because you can have fun or commit yourself to creating wonderful and gigantic houses (even small ones, if you want) without slowing down your imagination.
…And on PlayStation 5?
On the technical front, House Flipper for PS5 really shines. Thanks to the processing power of the new generation console, the game runs without too many problems and without any drop in frame rate, offering very good fluidity. Furthermore, i loading times are reduced especially when compared with installation on a classic hard disk.
As you might expect, the user interface was a bit Modified to fit PS5trying to make the most of the console's capabilities to offer fluid and intuitive navigation: it must be said that it is however present some problems with the cursorsnot at their peak and hardly comparable to navigation with a mouse and keyboard, but after a few hours of play you will get the hang of it.
The graphics department has been improved compared to the first House Flipper, and this improvement is fortunately also visible on consoles. Clearly, having in front of us a flagship with considerable power, even the graphic possibilities proved to be up to par with the PC version.
The fundamental thing is that games with this type of gameplay, which reach such a high quality, are really rare in the console market, so even for this reason alone House Flipper 2 is a cut above the restproving practically unmissable for lovers of the genre.
