Nightmare qualifying for Red Bull
A year ago the walls had rewarded the courage of Max Verstappen, this time however the Dutch paid dearly for the contact with the wall in Sainte-Devote immediately after starting the second and decisive run in Q3. The three-time world champion was third after his first attempt and had his best weapon against the competition in T1.
Verstappen tried to dig something further after having already been 2 cm from the wall in Sainte-Devote previously, but this time he lost control of the very difficult to tame RB20 by touching the barriers and therefore raising his foot, thus climbing to sixth position. The streak of pole positions was thus interrupted of Verstappen, who therefore stops at eight.
“I hit the wall, the car is very slippery“, Verstappen declared immediately via radio after the mistake. The difficulties ofat Red Bull they are made evident by Sergio Perez, even 18th and eliminated in Q1. “It’s a joke”, Checo’s bitter comment on the radio. Red Bull had won the last three editions of the Monaco GP, to extend the streak tomorrow perhaps something that goes beyond winning at Roulette is needed.
