Horner doesn't give up and raises
Not a day goes by now without the Horner case being enriched with new details and twists, on the one hand (that of those who accuse the British manager) and on the other (of those who instead defend the interests of the Red Bull team principal). Today is the day of the reply from the 50-year-old number one on the Red Bull pit wall who pointed the finger – through his lawyers – against the investigative article published by the Business F1 Magazine website. The request is clear: the removal of the article which, according to Horner's lawyers – the London firm Harbottle & Lewis – would be “illegal, defamatory” and also in conflict with the rights to privacy and data protection.
Investigation “full of inaccuracies”
The English website The Telegraph also spoke to a spokesperson for the Red Bull team who said: “The piece is full of inaccuracies and is subject to legal complaint.” According to Horner's lawyers, the article would cause serious damage to the Red Bull team principal. The investigation has in fact identified the woman – an employee of the Red Bull team – who is said to be at the center of the controversy concerning Horner and has published a series of statements relating to events within the Red Bull team, including an alleged firing letter which would have already been ready in early February and with which CEO Oliver Mintzlaff would have wanted to cut ties with Horner.
The site editor responds in spades
The magazine's website crashed this Monday – the day the article was published – under the weight of the internet traffic that intercepted the article. Tom Rubython, publisher of the magazine and author of the article, has however for the moment ruled out removing the piece from his site: “We have told them that we will not remove the article from our website – he told The Telegraph – if they want us to that happens, they must seek an injunction.” Rubython also stated that before the article was published he contacted Red Bull but not Horner, precisely to avoid receiving a preventive injunction.
