Honda presented the two new MY 2023 versions of the models CRF450R and CRF250R. These are two motocross specialists who have received some important tweaks to remain competitive over time.
In particular, CRF450R 2023 benefited from input from HRC pilots for chassis, suspension and engine tuning, to make driving faster. Honda’s flagship in motocross has therefore evolved thanks to the developments conducted during the MXGP World Championship. The 2023 model, Honda reports, has stronger torque at low revs and smoother power delivery to help drive efficiency out of corners. The stiffness of the frame and the revised suspension should generate more stability under braking, faster changes of direction, more grip of the front tire. There is also a special model in terms of livery, the CRF450R 50th Anniversary, to celebrate the five decades since the first appearance of the iconic CR250M Elsinore. The new coloring of the CRF450R 50th Anniversary takes its cue from the legendary CRs of the 80s, and this will be the only Honda motorcycle on sale on the Italian market for this range.
In detail, the novelties are: new intake ducts, new intake manifold, new smaller throttle body (44 mm) and renewed timing of the distribution, plus the new mappings of the ECU. There is 10% extra torque at 5,000 rpm. Added to this is a new exhaust silencer made of more resistant aluminum without weight increase and a Showa fork with 49 mm stanchions, which has improved calibrations.
Moving on to the 250, mechanically unchanged compared to 2022, the CRF250R 2023 adopts the chassis of the CRF450R protagonist of the MXGP World Championship. The targeted development of the cylinder head has ensured an increase in torque at low revs, and the radiators ensure maximum radiant efficiency. The clutch has 9 discs. A new graphic design distinguishes the 2023 model which features a brand new restyling of the iconic HRC logos.
