The semi-finals of Finland and Canada will be played on Thursday.
Finland lost 3–4 in the under-18 boys ’hockey World Championships in Sweden. The match played in Kaufbeuren, Germany, was the final bout for the Little Lions in the Group B final. Finland scored six points in the first block and placed second behind Sweden.
The Little Lions World Cup contract will continue on Thursday in the quarterfinals, where it will face Canada, which unexpectedly finished third in Group A. Sweden will face Germany in the Group A jumbo team.
Sweden led the match in the middle of the second half as early as 4-1. Towards the end of the second installment Lenni Hämeenaho narrowed by the overpower in front of the goal. In the final installment Tuomas Uronen brought the Little Lions to the head after Hämeenahon skillfully left the puck between his legs. Topi Rönni fired 1-1 readings on the wrist in the opening round.
