IO Interactive announced that the upcoming Freelancer mode of Hitman 3which should introduce strategic planning and a customizable shelter, has been postponed to February 26 next year. The good news is that the developer will be doing a playtest on Steam early next month.
The announcement was made along with the reveal of the technical test, which will allow a group of select players to experience the main aspects of the mode. More information on the registration process and how the technical test will work will be provided shortly. “We will selectively invite Hitman 3 players on Steam to participate in the Closed Technical Test“, we read in official blog by IO Interactive.
The developer team intends to make changes based on player feedback before fully launching the mode for owners of Hitman 3 early next year. According to the statement, IO Interactive will put its servers under stress to see how long they can withstand the heavy traffic. It was also revealed that the highly anticipated modality, described as “the next evolution of Hitman“, will arrive as a free update, allowing each player to create their own freelance” gunman “without having to complete the campaign.
The development process will take a little longer, as the freelancer mode will include nearly all locations from the World of Assassination. Going into more detail, this mode will allow players to get everything they want with Agent 47. Players will be able to return to play with the characters introduced in Hitman 3, but this time they will not have to stick to the campaign, as his world will have much more to offer, according to the development team.
