Formula 1 revealed the calendar for the 2025 season in the early afternoon today, which will mark the 75th year of the World Championship. No surprises compared to what we anticipated a few weeks ago: the next season will open again in Australia on the weekend from 14 to 16 March, concluding in Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi.
Australia's return to open the season is due to the timing of Ramadan, which will take place in March next year. For this reason, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian grands prix have been moved to April, as the fourth and fifth rounds respectively. In their place, the events in China and Japan were brought forward.
The first European event of next season will be held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, from 16 to 18 May. Then, in sequence, here is Monaco and Barcelona before the second American trip, that of Montreal, Canada.
The season in the Old Continent will resume at the end of June, in Austria, and then continue in Belgium, Hungary, Holland and end again in Italy, at the Autodromo Internazionale di Monza with the Italian Grand Prix.
Singapore arrives at the beginning of October, before the American trip begins with Austin, Mexico, Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Las Vegas. Qatar will be the penultimate act before the grand finale in Abu Dhabi set for December 5-7.
The changes made in the calendar of the next Formula 1 season were made with the intention of creating better conditions in geographical travel with Japan set after Australia and China, but also the central part of the season almost entirely in Europe and, following that, the American side.
“2025 will be a special year, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, and it is this legacy and experience that will allow us to deliver a calendar of this caliber. Once again we will visit 24 exceptional venues across the world, offering racing, hospitality and entertainment of the highest level, which millions of people will be able to enjoy,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
“We are grateful to the FIA, our promoters, host city partners and all the ASNs involved for their commitment and support in delivering this calendar and in their support to deliver this programme, ensuring what promises to be another year fantastic for Formula 1.”
“I would like to pay tribute to our F1 teams and drivers, the heroes of our sport, and to fans around the world for continuing to follow Formula 1 with such incredible enthusiasm.”
“The 2025 Formula 1 calendar, approved by the World Motorsport Council, is further evidence of our collective sustainability mission to make seasons more sustainable by organizing calendars by region. Our aim is to provide stability to the F1 and well-being to all the workers who travel so much,” said FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
“The FOM, under the direction of Stefano Domenicali, has produced a calendar that is a perfect mix between iconic locations and modern and interesting innovations. I in turn thank the organisers, the FIA volunteers and all those who produce efforts to make F1 one global show, which will turn 75 next year.”
