Helldivers 2: Arrowhead asks players whether to postpone the new War Title with a poll

With a “democratic” poll released on X, Arrowhead Games Studio CEO John Pilestedt asked players to Helldivers 2 whether to publish the new one War Title “Polar Patriots” on May 9th as scheduled or whether it would be appropriate to postpone its release, given the media storm that involved the game a few days ago.

For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, at the end of last week Arrowhead and Sony announced that from June 4th it would be necessary to connect a PlayStation account to play Helldivers 2 on Steam. In addition to reasons of practicality and data security, the decision was bitterly contested by the community because in many countries around the world it is not possible to create a PSN account legally, which led to record review bombing with over 200,000 negative reviews in just a few days. Sony subsequently retraced its steps and announced that the PlayStation account will not be mandatory to continue playing on PC.

Considering how much the situation has shaken the community, apparently the Arrowread team is now worried that publishing a paid War Title within a few days could be in bad tastehence the survey idea launched by Pilestedt.

At the moment it is the option to publish the pass as scheduled wins by farthat is, today, with 74% of the votes, against 26% of users in favor of a postponement.

“Considering the negative sentiment regarding linking PlayStation accounts, a concern has arisen from the team: “Is it in bad taste to release the new (paid) War Title so soon?” and so we put you to a real vote in a truly democratic,” reads the Arrowhead CEO’s post.

Through this War Title, players will be able to get their hands on the new AR-61 Meat Tenderizer and PLAS-101 Purifier assault rifles, as well as the SMG-72 Pestle submachine gun and the P-113 Verdict sidearm. We also find the new G-13 incendiary grenade, the Motivational Shock upgrade, three new polar-themed armor and as many cloaks.
