After Helldivers 2 players completed the goal of eliminating 2 billion insects with astonishing ease and in a small fraction of the allotted time, they now face a Main Order much more complicated, in fact seemingly impossible. This time the players will have to deal with a double front attack by Terminidi and Automaton and free 10 planets.
The objective description speaks of a “suspiciously coordinated” double-front attack, almost as if GM Joel (who defines the dynamic narrative of Helldivers 2) wanted to raise the bar by proposing an impossible mission, after the players have killed with extreme ease 2 billion terms in less than 24 hours, less than a sixth of the time allowed.
“Freedom is once again under attack. In a suspiciously coordinated manner, both the Terminids and the Automaton have launched large-scale assaults. The Helldivers must now defend our citizens on two fronts at once,” reads the game's internal description.
The Helldivers have no hope?
As explained by community manager Spitz on Discord, the Master Order was indeed designed to be impossible or almost impossible to complete. In his opinion, dividing the forces of the players on both fronts will not lead to anything, rather the Helldivers should focus only on one of them and decide which one to give up. He also suggested that this won't be the first or last time players will have to make tough decisions.
“I don't want to push too far, but this Main Order is set up so that players intentionally lose ground on one side. Both sides are pushing hard and trying to regain territory,” Spitz said.
“Defense events will be frequent and players will have to choose which front to fight on, but it is unlikely that you will be able to hold them all. Choose carefully which planets to focus on.”
At the time of writing, there are 3 days and 12 hours left until the end of the Main Order, with only 1 of the 10 planets required by the game liberated. Will Helldiver succeed on both fronts?
