“It could have been a major tragedy,” said merchant Juan Ramón Espejel when he narrated how the moment of the helicopter impact at the intersection of Aztecas Avenue and Imán Avenue, in the mayor's office Coyoacan From Mexico City (CDMX).
This accident, which left a preliminary figure of 3 people dead, could have gone down in history as one of the grayest days in the mayor's office if it had not been for the quick actions of the pilot, who sacrificed his life to avoid taking collateral victims.
In interview for N+published on its website with the name 'Pilot Avoided a Major Tragedy in Helicopter Fall: Witness', the merchant explained that he was in the area when the air unit began to fall.
“The helicopter came from this area, as you can see, there is the high voltage tower, the helicopter cleared it and the moment it cleared it it plummeted into the bardal area,” he said.
The witness exemplified with the flight of an aircraft that was carrying out reconnaissance in the area, that the tragedy occurred when the helicopter engine shut down and it began to plummet, that's when the driver maneuvered to avoid areas full of citizens.
“I observed the helicopter that made a maneuver to avoid an accident or tragedy in the flea market area or avoid the accident towards the apartments.”
The reaction of the witnesses was to run scared at the possibility of the fire reaching the flea market premises, in addition, they described how the exact moment of the collision was, with ua huge flare that rose to great heights.
“It could have been a bigger tragedy, if it weren't for the pilot who made a maneuver, who did something else, we were talking about another occasion. Whether in the flea market or in the housing unit inside, when I saw how the helicopter was coming in a tailspin, I thank God and now I thank the pilot, may he rest in peace, who avoided the tragedy,” he concluded.
