Heiner challenges Real: Bayern is the great “champion”

Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich, said that he believes that the team is among the favorites to win the European Champions League, after it knocked out Paris Saint-Germain in the European Championship round of sixteen.
Bayern defeated Paris Saint-Germain with two goals scored by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry in the 61st and 90th minutes of the two teams’ match yesterday, Wednesday, in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, and Bayern had finished the first leg 1-0 in Paris.

Bayern thus qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the fourth time in a row, winning with an aggregate score of 3-0.

“I do not see a stronger team than our team in the Champions League,” Heiner told reporters, stressing that the team won after tight control of the match.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on March 17, and Chelsea, AC Milan, and Benfica, along with Bayern Munich, have already qualified. Real Madrid and Napoli, Italy, are also considered strong candidates to qualify through their matches in the return round next week.

Although Bayern Munich is sponsored by Qatar Airways, Heiner did not ignore the Qatari financial support that Paris Saint-Germain has enjoyed since 2011, and its failure to win the Champions League so far.
“You see, you can’t achieve everything with money alone,” Heiner said. Bayern Munich will receive 6.10 million euros from the European Union for the game (UEFA) after qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Bayern Munich has so far won prizes with a total value of 02.89 million euros by winning all eight of its matches in the Champions League, as it won all six of its matches in the group stage, as well as in its two matches against Saint-Germain in the round of sixteen.

And in the event that Bayern reaches the final scheduled in Istanbul on the tenth of June and is crowned with the title, it will receive a total of 52.121 million euros. Bayern Munich is currently preparing to meet Augsburg the day after tomorrow, Saturday, in the German League (Bundesliga) competition.
