“I was born into a family where music was listened to a lot, my father taught piano and every Sunday morning we all listened to classical music together. I studied piano but in 2012 I had to abandon it because I started to lose my hearing, until I lost it completely. In 2016, however, I was lucky enough to discover the cochlear implant, I decided to undergo the operation and I must say that I was reborn, because thanks to the implant not only did I start hearing again, but I regained my perfect pitch” . Claudia Mangione tells it, one of the artists who performed at Sound Sensation, the concert held yesterday at the RaiArturo Toscanini Auditorium in Turin, promoted by Med-El in partnership with Rai, on the occasion of World Hearing Day, which it is celebrated on March 3.
“I'm here – adds Mangione – precisely because I want to thank the people who have made my hearing life better, which is now rich in sounds and above all in inner harmony. I can say that I lived it peacefully, however I hope to be able to improve my hearing journey because the qualification never ends, you can always do better. For me – he concludes – it was like starting to play again. I am now a simple teacher, they offered it to me and I wanted to try, but in the future who knows, maybe I will start playing the piano seriously again”.
