Ecm: there are two new features on the deadline for shifting credits and on the bonus for vaccine-themed courses, which are fundamental for fulfilling the training obligation and avoiding incurring sanctions at the end of the three-year period, as highlighted by resolutions 5/24 and 6/24 issued by the National Commission for continuing medical education. The new free guide from Conducessi Club released on the sidelines of the webinar ‘Ecm training obligation and insurance: the latest news’ explains what is changing and how to protect yourself. What to pay attention to in the three-year period, in which industry experts commented on the new methods and a video tutorial was proposed to complete the process of moving to CoGeAPS.
This event – we read in a note – underlined the importance of continuous training and education in medicine, essential to maintain high professional standards and guarantee quality in patient care. “Continuous training in medicine is crucial to ensure that health professionals can constantly update themselves, improve their skills and face the new challenges of the healthcare sector – commented Simona Gori, head of Consulcesi Club – In a sector like healthcare, which changes rapidly, the need to maintain a high level of preparedness not only meets the needs of patients, but also ensures that professionals can operate with maximum efficiency and safety.”
In detail, resolution 6/24 modifies that of 8 December 2023, recalls Sandro Di Sabatino, expert in the Ecm system. The first innovation concerns the extension of the deadline for the courses useful for the transfer of credits, which now also includes those completed by 31 December 2023, but with an ‘event end date’ set in 2024. Furthermore, the deadline for the credit shift, extended until December 31, 2025, which provides professionals with a longer period to complete this process via the CoGeAPS website. To assist healthcare professionals, in addition to the free guide available on the site, Consulcesi provides the ‘Dedicated Personal Assistant’ service, a consultant who accompanies the user in every phase of the process, from logging in to the CoGeAPS site to the credit transfer procedure. , and ensures in real time that everything is successful. By registering for free at Consulcesi Club, you will be able to access all the insights dedicated to the training of healthcare professionals and discover the other advantages of the digital solution, from contents with innovative formats to the new ‘List of Professionals’ network.
Resolution 5/24 – the note recalls – establishes “a bonus for the three-year period 2026-2028, equal to the number of credits actually obtained in the three-year period 2023-2025, to healthcare professionals who acquire credits in the field of vaccines and vaccination strategies”. thematic, up to a maximum of 10 credits”. The ECM Commission therefore confirms the interest in vaccines as an essential tool for health and which requires trained professionals.
On the insurance front, with the entry into force of the implementing decrees of Law 24/17 (so-called Gelli-Bianco) on the professional liability of healthcare professionals, article 38 bis of decree 152 of 2021 becomes operational, which subordinates the effectiveness of insurance policies upon completion of 70% of the training obligations in the three-year period. In practice – explains Consulcesi – professionals who do not reach this percentage by 31 December 2025 will not be able to benefit from insurance coverage, therefore finding themselves exposed in the event of disputes. The Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, reiterated this very clearly in a recent interview. On the importance of being in compliance with the ECM obligation in order not to find oneself exposed to one’s insurance policy in the event of legal disputes, Di Sabatino observes: “Continuous training is an ethical duty for doctors and all healthcare workers. Being adequately trained and updated is essential to respond to the patient’s right to be treated by a trained professional who is in step with the evolution of scientific research”.
In addition to the new guide, the personal assistance service and the video tutorial, Consulcesi provides “the innovative digital platform – concluded Gori – which offers exclusive content, ECM training, legal and insurance services, agreements and a network to broaden visibility and professional contacts”.
