The counselor Juan José Pedreño sends a letter to José Vélez after observing “a breach that the Administrations can allow and requires us to increase our zeal in monitoring and complying with them”
The Ministry of Health again asked the Government Delegation this Monday to “reinforce the work of control and surveillance of the sanitary measures agreed upon by the Security Forces and Bodies during this end of the year and the rest of the Christmas holidays ». The head of the branch, Juan José Pedreño, recalled that «last Wednesday, December 23, we sent a letter to the Government Delegation of Murcia, in which we informed them of the measures agreed in the extraordinary meeting of the Regional Covid Committee to the object to implement concrete and urgent measures to contain the spread of contagion that is causing the sixth wave.
The Region of Murcia went to an alert level 3-High and among the agreed measures, the cessation of non-essential activity in the entire Region stood out from 1:00 am and the application to leisure of the regulations that govern the sector of hostelry. Likewise, the interior capacity was delimited for all activities in general, and for hotels and restaurants, the maximum number of diners per table allowed and the maximum seats were set.
The Health Minister himself complained that “the beginning of this Christmas in the Murcia Region has shown us images contrary to the protection of health, which is the main objective of these measures that were communicated to him. A breach that the Administrations that we have as a mandate to ensure, above all, the health of all our citizens, cannot allow and requires us to increase our zeal in monitoring and complying with them ».
For this reason, by means of a new letter, Pedreño “urges the Government Delegation, within its powers, to reinforce the work of control and surveillance of the agreed sanitary measures and that the Security Forces and Bodies under its command they are entrusted to defend the public health of all the citizens of our Region during this end of the year and the rest of the Christmas holidays ».
The Ministry of Health also notified the Government Delegation of a resolution indicating the need to quarantine people who are close contacts of positive migrants arriving by boat. The last positive case to arrive in the Region is in a SMS hospital.
«The competence of them to quarantine, as well as to enable public or private accommodation to those who are close contacts, is the Government Delegation. This was established on October 21, 2021 in a ruling of the Contentious Administrative Court number 4 of Murcia, which dismissed the appeal filed by the Government Delegation in Murcia and corroborates its obligation to provide public or private accommodation for irregular immigrants pass the mandatory quarantine period in those cases in which they are considered close contacts, “they added.
The judgment indicates that “the State’s competence extends to their custody regardless of the health situation in which they are found and, by extension, must guarantee the isolation of those who under such custody and are imposed a mandatory quarantine for reasons sanitary, which has to procure and monitor, as it is a state competence. Therefore, they conclude from Health, “it is irresponsible to look the other way and ignore what the Justice dictates, in addition to the fact that with this attitude they put the health of Murcia at risk. It is the obligation of the government delegation to ensure that these people comply with their quarantine. ”
Vélez: “There is no doubt about the involvement and effort” of the troops
The Government delegate responded to the text of the Ministry assuring that “there is no doubt about the involvement and effort of all the Security Forces and Bodies of both the State and all the Town Halls of the Region.”
Vélez stressed that “in the majority of municipalities of the Region, in the last two weeks prior to the festivities, periodic meetings of Local Security Boards have been held, in which the necessary actions have been agreed upon during these festivals in all matters. Relating to the control of sanitary measures and citizen security, in coordination with the municipal authorities and the Local Police. The CARM General Directorate of Emergencies has also participated in most of these Security Boards ». The Government delegate added that the National Police and Civil Guard bodies “have also implemented actions at the regional level to ensure compliance with the measures against the Covid-19 pandemic adopted by the health authorities.”
