“Secondary prevention means preventing a patient who has already had a cardiac event, such as a heart attack or stroke, from having a second event. The factors to keep under control are hypertension, diabetes and LDL cholesterol. The lower the bad cholesterol, the better.” This was stated by Stefano Carugo, director of cardiology at the Policlinico di Milano, on the occasion of the launch of the Novartis campaign ‘Da quore a cuore’, created with the patronage of the Italian Association of Heart Failure Patients (Aisc) and the Italian Heart Foundation (Fipc).
