He drinks a coffee at the bar, gets back into the car and dies surrounded by flames: the victim was called Salvatore Nigro
A huge and still unexplained tragedy occurred this morning in Carlentini, a Sicilian town in the province of Syracuse. Salvatore Nigro, a 76-year-old local pensioner, died after the flames engulfed his car. Some witnesses would have seen him drinking a coffee in a bar a few minutes earlier.
The Prosecutor's Office Syracuse has opened an investigation and is already working hard to try to clarify a huge tragedy that occurred this morning, Wednesday 24 April, in a central area of Carlentinia small town with around 10 thousand inhabitants and located a few kilometers from the Sicilian provincial capital.
The firefighters rushed to via Diaz, where some passers-by noticed that a cara Land Rover, was completely engulfed in flames. Inside the car there was its owner, who was later identified as Salvatore Nigro, for whom it was not possible to do anything other than note his death.
According to what has emerged so far, it seems that the 76 year old retired had arrived in Via Diaz shortly before and, after parking, had gotten out to go to a bar and have a coffee. Once he had finished drinking, he would then return to his car and remain inside for a few minutes, until the flames actually engulfed the car completely.
At the moment no leads are excluded and investigators have seized the images from video surveillance cameraswhich they will watch carefully to clarify how such a drama could have happened.
Another tragedy occurred yesterday evening in Cologne in the province of Brescia. A 50-year-old woman who was driving her car remained stuck between the two bars of a rail crossing and a train, passing at that very moment, could not avoid running over her.
