The body of the young rider was brought back to Pakistan, his homeland, to be buried among his loved ones
An accident, right at the end of the working day, when everything seemed destined for a near return, like all the other days. We are in Padua, here is Alì Jamat, rider 31-year-old Pakistani man, died after days of suffering in hospital.
The accident that involved him in a merciless way occurred precisely in those magical hours in which he should have celebrated the arrival of his second child into the world. Unfortunately, the young man was the victim of a serious road accident in Limena, which occurred during the night between 6 and 7 September. The rider was completing his last delivery of the evening.
The accident was apparently caused by the impact of a car driven by a young 24-year-old woman. The violent blow suffered by the rider caused Alì to fall, causing him serious injuries head trauma. The woman, unharmed, remained in shock for a long time and after being subjected to an alcohol test, the result was negative. A very bad fate for a worker who should have finished the day shortly thereafter.
Alì was immediately transported to hospital, where he remains remained in a comaattached to an artificial respirator, until the painful declaration of brain death arrived. The young rider’s body was brought back to Pakistan, his homeland, to be buried among his loved ones and the rest of his family.
Sergio Giordani, mayor of Padua, expressed his condolences in a post on Facebook, underlining the urgency of improving the safety conditions for workers. The note on social media reads: “Alì Jamat died at the age of 31 while he was working as a rider, delivering food to homes. He lost his life on the day of the birth of his second child. This tragedy makes us reflect on the importance of guaranteeing safety and rights at work. No more deaths at work. A hug to his family and to the entire Pakistani community of Padua”.
