According to Wikipedia Cybercondria is a neologismderived from the union of words cyber and hypochondria
which refers to a patient’s unfounded concerns about common symptoms resulting from internet searches. For doctors, it replaced the phrases “I read it in the newspaper” and “I saw it on television” that precede the self-diagnosis of some pathology. The real difference, however, is that these sources, although sometimes approximate, have references and verifications while on the web you can try everything, without any reference.
I study
In the United KingdomAccording to one study, people have doubled (114% more) online health searches today than they did three years ago. Diabetes is the most sought after condition, followed by mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. The flu, lung cancer, chlamydia and hypertension all rank in the same fourth place, with an average monthly search volume of 60,500. When it comes to eye health conditions (the study was carried out to specifically evaluate this aspect), people are more concerned about the symptoms of glaucoma and the second most sought-after condition is dry eyes.
