Victorino Martín will fight a bullfight in Murcia 20 years later, on Saturday September 17, with Rafaelillo and Ferrera
The company Toros Sureste yesterday presented the poster for the Bullfight of the Press, on Saturday September 17, which is also announced as a commemoration of the 135th anniversary of the Murcia bullring. The organizer, Ángel Bernal, was accompanied by the president of the Real Club Taurino de Murcia, Alfonso Avilés; the president of the Press Association, Juan Antonio de Heras; the journalist Iñigo Crespo as presenter, and the rancher Victorino Martín, who emerged as the great protagonist of the act.
The poster, which represents the return of the bulls of Victorino Martín to Murcia, twenty years after dealing with a complete bullfight in La Condomina, announces two bullfighters specialized in the bulls of such distinguished livestock, such as Rafaelillo and Antonio Ferrera. In fact, Victorino commented that Ferrera is going to surpass Esplá this year as the bullfighter who will face the most bullfights of Victorino, also emphasizing that the silver anniversary of bullfighters is celebrated, that of Ferrera that is celebrated this year, and that of Rafaelillo, which was the past, but could not be held in this square. De Rafaelillo highlighted the great triumphs that he has obtained with his bulls in the last two bullfights fought in Tomelloso and Daimiel, describing the performances of the Murcian as “extraordinary”. Regarding the season, Martín described it as very regular, to culminate with the desire to finish it off in the bullfights that remain in the field, Murcia and Albacete, among others.
Ángel Bernal announced the specific and exclusive poster that has been made for this bullfight, the work of the young painter from Jaén Juan Ramón Martos, in the charcoal technique, with an image of the Murcia bullring, on which the iron of the livestock of Victorino and the portrait of the two swords, and the letters of Murcia in red Cartagena.
The names of the horned animals are ‘Cucurucho’, ‘Mateo’, ‘Pantallero’, ‘Recadero’, ‘Buscanoches’ and ‘Plazuelo’, the breeder highlighting the good leash of their mothers.
A list of photographs with the bulls outlined for Murcia was also exhibited at the presentation, a cinqueña bullfight, serious and entyped, in the words of Victorino, who said he came very comfortable with this bullfight to Murcia. The rancher even introduced them by his name to the attendees, among whom was Francisco Abril, general director of Local Administration of the Regional Government and responsible for bullfighting affairs. For his part, Juan Antonio de Heras thanked Bernal for his generosity in maintaining the bullfight of the Press, which has been held in Murcia since 1914, with the presentation of Juan Belmonte at La Condomina. He highlighted the fact that only Murcia and Madrid maintain their press runs.
Rafaelillo, on the shoulders of Cabra
The one who could not attend the act was Rafaelillo. The Murcian bullfighter, who could not be at the presentation of the Press Bullfight poster when he was hired for the bullfight at Feria de Cabra (Córdoba), added a new victory in his season, coming out on his shoulders after cutting two ears.
