Mercedes crisis
Never like in this period Mercedes he is in trouble. At least as far as the turbo-hybrid era is concerned, this is the most difficult moment for the Brackley team, inconsistent on the track and above all without a clear path in terms of design and drivers, with Lewis Hamilton having “abandoned ship” to go to Ferrari .
Suzuka is adamant
Now comes Suzuka, a circuit that does not forgive mistakes and above all promises to be very tough for the W15, whose weaknesses are to be found in the fast corners – a true characteristic feature of the track – and in the inconsistency of performance.
Hamilton's words
Before the Japan round, however, Hamilton wanted to compact the team: “We win and lose as teams, and we are incredibly united. I've been here a long time and know pretty much everything there is to know. These people are incredibly resilient – we will continue to learn as much as we can, stay positive, fight and chase. If we focus on the difficult moments, there is only one path to take. What keeps me up at night is thinking about what I can do differently to help the team“, these are the words of the Briton. “I definitely feel more optimistic with this car. There was a feeling, it seems like for a moment we have the pace, but then it disappears. It means that there is more performance than what emerges: we are confident that we can take steps in the right direction, we just need to be more consistent and we are doing everything to find the right compromise“.
Russell's words
“It's still early, but we're already seeing trends emerging. We know our strengths and weaknesses and there is still much to learn“added George Russell. “We want to find big gains, and even though the bar is very high we are confident we can take steps in the right direction. Every time you go back to the factory you see everyone working hard and this helps you understand everything better. We are constantly working“.
