Hamilton, confidence for the Monaco GP
Sixth in Miami, sixth in Imola: Lewis Hamilton has achieved the best results of the season in the last two grands prix. Thanks to the updates that the Mercedes brought both to Florida and to Santerno, and of the determination of the seven-time world champion who is certainly not thinking about his next bride – Ferrari – but is giving everything to the Mercedes cause.
Hamilton’s words
In Brackley, as admitted by James Allison, they are working hard to get out of the quicksand. The former Ferrari driver stated that the team will continuously bring new things, but Hamilton has scaled back his expectations. For this weekend there will be no developments but “only” a new wing: “We have no updates this weekend, basically we spread the package between Miami and Imola. For this weekend we will have a maximum load configuration, but everyone will have it, and an advanced wing“This was his comment at the press conference.
“We don’t know where we will really be this weekend, I certainly have more confidence than in the last two editions, which we faced with not so great cars. This is a ‘work in progress’ and I hope it is a clear step forward at least compared to last year. This car is much more predictable and more fun to drive than the last two. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s moving in the right direction and the window of use is widening“.
Finally, a consideration on how much the Monaco GP means to him, who has won here three times: “As a child I watched the races on television and dreamed of speeding under the tunnel like Ayrton Senna did, and even today I think it is surreal that I am among the 20 to be able to do it in a Formula 1 car. It is a special weekend, we are in the second most small in the world: it is a pearl of our sport“.
