A second home
Formula 1, having disposed of the waste of the ‘back to back’ Imola-Monaco, is ready to return to the scene this weekend in the spectacular setting of the Montreal circuit, in Canada, which bears the name of the legend Gilles Villeneuve. A track that for reasons of the heart is dear not only to Ferrari fans, but also to those who, starting next year, will wear the red Maranello suit: Lewis Hamilton.
First time
The English seven-time world champion has in fact published a message on Instagram recalling his first career victory, which took place on the Canadian track. It was 2007 and the Englishman was then a promising rookie who was surprising the world with his extraordinary performance: 17 years later, Hamilton can consider Montreal as his second home. In fact, on that track the current Mercedes driver has collected seven victories in 14 races.
“I was 22 years old, it was my first year in F1 and only my sixth race – the #44 from Stevenage, at the time representing McLaren at the time, recalled on Instagram – it was a moment in which my dream became. I had so much support that weekend and I haven’t stopped feeling it since. Thanks to everyone, especially to those who have followed me from the beginning.” Hamilton comes into this year’s Canadian GP with less hope than usual, having never finished higher than sixth place in a race this season.
