Author of the law that established Perse, deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE) wants to avoid the end of the program aimed at the events sector
The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddadshould receive on Wednesday (7.Feb.2024), at 2pm, the deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), author of the law of Persian (Emergency Program for the Resumption of the Events Sector), as determined by the Power360. The meeting will take place on the same day that an event will be held with representatives of companies in the sector, at 3 pm, in plenary 2 of the Chamber.
The congressman, who is part of the Lula (PT) government base, tries to avoid the gradual end of the program, which was established in the MP (provisional measure) 1,202 of 2023 – which involves reimbursing the payroll of 17 sectors of the economy and also lowers other standards to increase tax collection. In addition to Carreras, senator Daniella Ribeiro (PSD-PB), the deputy Renata Abreu (Podemos-SP) and the president of Hug (Brazilian Association of Event Promoters), Doreni Caramori Júnior, must be present.
The program exempts event companies from taxes. It was instituted due to the pandemic to alleviate losses in the sector, which was at a standstill due to long periods in which gatherings were prohibited. The measure was sent by the government at the end of December and faces resistance in Congress. Expires April 1, 2024.
According to Haddad, the fiscal impact of Perse remaining in full in 2024 is R$16 billion. At the Treasury, there is an understanding that Perse must come to an end due to the high impact on public accounts. According to the minister, the amounts per year are 4 times higher than expected – approximately R$4 billion annually.
In an interview with Power360the Secretary of the National Treasury, Rogério Ceron, said that the Persian “there needs to be a real end”. “He [Perse] it was an emergency situation program, and the word emergency has the meaning of having plurality. A situation that demands specific and time-determined support. It really needs to come to an end.”declared on Thursday (1st.Feb).
