Salvini: “The first politician to come here? I hope there are others, if everyone plays his part and helps a family … Poland is doing a lot, a million refugees, Europe should do more “
The secretary of the League, Matteo Salvini, was challenged on his arrival at the railway station of Przemysl, a town which is about 15 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The video of what happened was published by the Polish website ‘Nowiny24’. The video frames the mayor of the city, Wojciech Bakun, alongside Salvini. Bakun, after thanking many Italian organizations that support refugees, shows the senator a shirt with Putin’s face on it.
“The initiative for today’s meeting was born from Salvini. This morning I received the information that he was going to visit Przemysl. I find it insolent of him, so I decided to give him a T-shirt with the image of his friend Putin and invite him to visit a refugee center where there are thousands of victims of this war. On the last day alone, Poland welcomed 150,000 refugees, of which Przemysl alone about 43,000”Bakun’s words reported by the Polish site. From the images we can therefore see Salvini moving away from the meeting point, while some Italians are heard who contest him with the cry of ‘you are a clown, fool’. “I’m here to help” replies the leader of the League before leaving. “The first politician to come here? I hope there are others, if everyone does his own thing and helps a family … Poland is doing a lot, a million refugees, Europe should do more. Poland is left alone for a while, ”Salvini later told Rainews.
Ukraine: Salvini condemns Putin? Of course, we condemn war – “Some Italians prefer war, I’m sorry for him. I’m here for peace and I condemn war, I condemn bombs”. Thus the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, responding to reporters in Przemysl, the Polish town about ten kilometers on the border with Ukraine where he was challenged. To those who asked him if he is ready to condemn President Putin as well, Salvini replied: “Of course, of course. We condemn war, anyone condemns war and aggression except a few Italians who are here talking about war”.
